Cayin Releases New Web-Based Networked Digital Signage System at ISE 2006

Taipei, Taiwan November 17, 2005 - In response to the booming out-of-home media network, Cayin Technology will release a new networked digital signage product (SMP-WEB) at Integrated System Europe 2006 (Hall 5, Booth F294), held from February 1st to 3rd. SMP-WEB is a web-based dedicated digital signage appliance, which is developed with Cayin's hardened embedded Linux and provides the most flexible presentations for out-of-home advertisements, public information, and entertainment. Compared to those PC-based solutions, SMP-WEB, a compact dedicated digital signage appliance, has a lower total cost of ownership. It has lower power consumption and shorter boot/reboot time than PC. Fanless models are also available to eliminate the noise for some special applications. The system is developed with Cayin's hardened embedded Linux, which effectively increases system security and prevents from computer virus and hackers' attacks. SMP-WEB is a web-based networked digital signage system. All multimedia contents are displayed in full-screen web pages, so designers can utilize their own familiar web-editing tools and unleash their creativities without being constrained to traditional rigid split screens. This system supports most popular web languages, such as HTML, JavaScript, Macromedia Flash, DHTML, CSS, etc., and most popular codec and file formats, such as MPEG-1, 2, 4, AVI, WMV, MP3, JPG, GIF, etc. In addition to video, images, animations, and texts, SMP-WEB can extend to provide interactive services incorporating with external devices such as touch screen, keyboard, keypad, or mouse. SMP-WEB is an open-structure platform for easy integration. This solution is deployed under server-client structure over IP network, and can integrate easily with customers' existing network facilities, including web server, data base, storage, backup, or load balance. It provides a flexible and scalable networked digital signage solution for various applications. With Cayin's CMS server, administrators can manage the contents and system settings of SMP-WEB easily. A CMS server can administrate up to 60 clients at the same time, and broadcast right messages to be displayed at right time and right places. Cayin especially provides a useful web-based management tool for easy remote control. Administrators can centrally manage all SMP-WEB players located at different sites with automatic content updates, scheduling playlists, and can reboot each player remotely if necessary. SMP-WEB can also detect the network connection, and change to a pre-set offline display automatically when the network disconnect accidentally. Cayin's SMP-WEB is an innovative product in the market and currently 85 units are purchased and installed by Chinese Culture University in Taiwan. Those SMP-WEB media players are deployed with 32"-50" LCD TV at front gates, along corridors, in front of elevators, and outside conference rooms allocated in various buildings in different campuses. Administrators can centrally manage system settings in computer centers and distribute the right contents to the right media players in various sites via IP network. They will display school news, teaching materials, and public information in the format of videos, images, scrolling texts, and Flash animations. They also plan to broadcast live videos, such as TV programs or the graduation ceremony in the auditorium.
