Product Review: Calico Kitty Princess from Stuff-a-Friend

If you are looking for a cute and special friend that your child can make themselves, Stuff-a-Friend has a wide variety of friends and accessories to choose from. Ordering from Stuff-a-Friend was easy and fast, my package came just a few days after ordering it. Inside the large box was several items - a packing slip, stuffing, wishing star, and "Take Home Box" which included our calico kitty, wishing star, sound chip, and princess outfit. Instructions were also included on how to stuff our friend. I did wonder what needed to be done to actually stuff the friend, because I've seen similar items like this that needed to be sewn. While it wouldn't have been a big deal to me to sew it, I did wonder how easy it would be. Much to my surprise, there was two non-sewing ways to close the back after being stuffed - a zipper and velcro. Perfect! It didn't take us long to stuff the kitty, only 15 mins or so. Getting her dress on was also easy, but it does fit tight on her. It's a good thing I suppose, it won't come off easily although it can be changed. Her outfit was the Princess, which includes a dress, tiara, and wand. Tiara fits loosely on her head, and the want has a handy band that when put on her hand gives the look that she's holding it. The kitty and her dress are very beautiful and detailed. With our kitty we decided to add a sound chip which sounds like a cat. Recordable chips are also available, but the cat was good for us. When we first tried it out of the box, it seemed loud and I wondered how much of it I was going to be able to tolerate. Once placed stuffed in the kitty it's not nearly as loud as I thought and at the right sound level. We filled out her "birth certificate" and named her Miss Kitty (aren't we original?). No matter what the name, my kids absolutely loved her. My 3 yr old took off with her immediately, saying Miss Kitty had a dance to attend to. After a day of play, I worried about the tiara or wand getting broken so I put her at the very top of my desk. Since I've heard "Can I please play with Miss Kitty?". Because she's such a special friend, we don't throw her in with the rest of the toys and only get her down occasionally. I think it's a very cute friend, and there's so many different animals and outfits to choose from it would be impossible for me to list them all. Ordering from their website or from independent rep Anita DeFrank is easy. Details on all products can be found at: http://www.HandmadeFriend.com
