Bush & Blair: the deceptive allure of schadenfreude
We're at one of those moments where ruling politicians'
credibility falls away - Blair & Bush are being revealed to all
as liars, driven a combination by evil intent, delusion and
sheer idiocy.
With Bush the stupidities are evident to most, Blair's a bit
more intelligent and can manage a better facsimile of sincerity,
so his evil, deluded narcissism takes a bit longer for some to
see through. Both suffer from religious delusions of grandeur.
Whatever, it's happening to both of them, and at this point it's
possible to feel that some progress is being made, that people
will see the lies and demand justice and a better future.
Don't be deceived; look at the bigger picture. The machine that
rules us allows individuals to compete in the generation of
personal 'credibility' and the most persuasive lies i.e. the
lies that will convince an electroal majority (around about
20-25% of the population). In other words, it's an advertising
campaign with even lower than usual standards of truth.
They then take this to the polls to determine who has the best
set of lies, and the winner burns off this accrued credibility
and support in the service of evil i.e. various long term (beond
the span of a single administration) secretive arrangements
involving the security state, the military industrial complex
and corporate sponsors.
So it's crucial to realise that this moment of apparent progress
is in fact a key modality of the systems that deprive us of
democracy, freedom and a just future.
