Do You Have a Prodigal Son?

Keep on praying for your children and don't give up. Read about the prodigal son in Luke Chapter 15 verses 11-32. The story of the prodigal son is what I preached at the nursing home on Sunday morning, January 15, 2006. This great story about a CERTAIN man who had two sons that he loved is a great parable about the love of a father. The older son was steady, dependable, although a bit selfish. The younger son was a wild spirit, but the father realized that this young man had to learn from his decisions. I imagine that old daddy went to the door every day expecting his wayward son to come home. He loved him so much, he let him go his own way, but accepted him back with open arms despite the way the young man acted (a great example of Jesus' love for us). When the young man came to his senses, he realized how great his father's love was, went home, and the father threw a great party (like the one in heaven when a lost sinner comes to Jesus). The steady, reliable son was jealous, the wayward son got a fatted calf but the older one did not even get a small goat to BBQ (the lesson here is that he never asked the father because the father told him "all that I have is thine"). Praise the Lord for this powerful message about a father's love for his children.
