Forklift - security
Operating a forklift is a hard and specialized job that requires
specific expert skills, training and experience. Not every
person can operate a forklift. The law allows only those workers
who received proper training and certification by their
organization or company to operate a forklift. If you don't hold
a certification, you will need to go through the specialized
training. This training will include a large section that deals
with security. Incorrect operation of the forklift may result in
a lot of serious damage to the operator, people around and the
property. This is the main reason why security and damage
prevention is an important topic. Personnel should be able to
operate the forklift in a secure manner.
One of the rules that deal with the forklift safety is to keep
your feet and hands away from the forklift parts that move and
can cause damage. For example, you should never put your feet
right in front or behind the wheels. You should also keep your
hands away from the chain. Another advice is to stay under the
overhead safety guard which is located above your head. This
part was specifically installed to prevent any objects from
being accidentally dropped from the top. When you are getting in
or out of the forklift, make sure to look above and check that
there is no danger.
The next suggestion is to make sure that you keep your hands and
feed inside the forklift operator's cabin. This will make sure
that you don't hurt yourself if you drive the forklift close to
some object. Also make sure that you drive the forklift very
carefully, especially if there are people around. Due to the
size and weight of the forklift you can cause a lot of damage in
case of an accident. Be especially careful when you drive
backwards and when you park the forklift.
