NASCAR Multi Car Teams

As everyone knows team owners Roush and Childress are dominating Nascar this season. At first glance you would think that more money, better engineers and drivers would be the reason why and that is true to some extent. Right now you have to be asking yourself what else could it be? Remember back when some of the prominent teams in Nascar started adding a second car. At the time, even though Nascar was encouraging it, most people were saying 2 car teams would not work because it was just too expensive.

Nascar, wanting more competitive cars at the race track every week, and realizing that there were not a lot of new car owners stepping onto the track, knew that they had to do something. The quickest way to get more cars every week was to help the existing car owners afford more cars!!! Here in lies the rub, one of the ways Nascar decided to cut team costs, was to limit the number tracks each car could test at every year. Less testing less team money spent equals more cars. At the time this seemed like a pretty good idea and it worked for a while.
