Can You Hear Your Honeypots Calling?

Pooh, along with his friend Piglet, was lost in the forest. (They were led there by Rabbit, who was carrying out his evil plot trying to get Tigger to stop bouncing.)

They kept going around and around in circles, and finally Rabbit left them at the sandpit to prove a point. (Lesson one: Never keep company with negative, spiteful people.)

Pooh, after waiting with Piglet for Rabbit to return, suddenly got up and started heading for home. His honeypots had been calling to him all along, but he couldn't hear them until just then.

"There are 12 pots of honey in my cupboard, and they have been calling to my tummy...I couldn't hear them before because Rabbit would talk."

I know what you're thinking... What does this have to do with your business?

Have you ever had so much noise in your head that you couldn't hear your honeypots calling you?

Last week I had the experience of feeling "stuck". I had a few really productive weeks in my business, and was feeling extremely energetic. Busy, busy, busy.

Then all of a sudden everything got quiet. I didn't stop working, but the ideas stopped coming, the energy I had for my business just wasn't flowing.

You know what I did? I decided to sit down in my sandpit and just wait.

I played with my kids without thinking about business, I watched a couple of good movies, I went about the business of living. Without an ounce of guilt or anxiety I might add. I kept doing the necessary activities, but decided not to worry myself with the outcome.

Then one day a burst of creativity came to me. I grabbed a piece of paper and started feverishly writing down ideas. I don't know where these ideas came from really....it's just that I got quiet enough to hear my honeypots calling, and they guided me just where I needed to go in my business.

Suddenly everything started working out for me to implement these ideas. I was being drawn toward my goal, just like Pooh.

Some ideas to help you hear your honeypots:

*Get quiet occasionally. Treat yourself to a walk outside. Don't think about business. Just focus on what you're doing at that very moment. Feel the warm sun on your face, the breeze on your limbs. Listen to the birds sing.

*Give yourself a guilty pleasure when you feel stuck. A movie, a Mocha, a long hot bath with something sweet-smelling in the water, that should do it.

*Have fun! Play with the kids. Be silly with your spouse. Go eat an ice cream.

*Realize how your creative mind works. It's ok if it takes awhile for your mind to get quiet. Most of us aren't accustomed to living in the moment. Don't analyze. Quiet the busytalk of the mind. Just BE.

*Don't keep company with people who are negative and noisy. They will suck all the energy out of you, and you won't be able to hear the sweet stuff waiting for you.

Remember, the next time you're hunting ladybugs on a sunny day and can't find any, try taking a nap. You'll likely awaken with them crawling all over you.
