Mr. K.R. Lakhanpal, is new Chief Secretary of Punjab
Mr. K.R. Lakhanpal, an IAS Officer of 1972 batch here today took
over the charge as 33 rd Chief Secretary of Punjab. He has
succeeded Mr. Jai Singh Gill, who attained superannuation today.
After assuming the office of Chief Secretary, Mr. Lakhanpal said
that he would try his best to maintain the best traditions of
this office besides according top priority to the State
Government's on going programmes and policies. Born on August 5,
1947, Mr. Lakhanpal has done his post graduation in Economics.
He held various prestigious assignments in the State as well as
in Central Government. He remained Deputy Commissioner of
Ludhiana for four years, Director/ Joint Secretary, Ministry of
Industry, Govt. of India for five years, Director Industries,
Punjab, Secretary Local Government, Secretary PWD (B&R),
Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Punjab,
Secretary, Industries and Commerce, School Education, Financial
Commissioner Animal Husbandry, Principal Secretary Finance for
five year and Principal Secretary Irrigation before taking over
