The ability to leave the daily stress behind us and to enter a
land of pretending for a while is one of the best opportunities
that traveling proposes. But when we go back home and measure
our weight, the vacation ends and the feeling of happiness is
replaced by guilt. It is because we remember how much we ate and
how little we went for sport.
The problem consists in the difficulties to keep to our fitness
regimen during the travel as well as to our sleeping and eating
patterns. Who would travel to see the most beautiful places in
the world and meanwhile to spend hours doing exercises?
When we go to exotic places like Rio, we are tempted to try
everything, including delicious food, promising to do sport as
soon as we get home. But as we eat we need to burn the calories.
If not, our bodies store it as fat being mistaken that we're
eating to аaccumulate energy for the winter season. And it
is important to remind us that it is easier to gain weight than
to lose it.
Traveling truths While traveling we consume more and wrong meals
and beverages. We often eat them late at night which is wrong
and unhealthy, especially when we ad desserts at every meal. So
workouts are important. Sure nobody expects the exercises to be
as intensive as we do at home.
The useful push ups and crunches
They help us to tone our muscles and to burn the unwanted
calories. It is easy and safe. You just have to be motivated -
no special equipment is necessary. Good music and some TV
programs can help you when you are in the hotel room. As an
example - watching gorgeous models on Fashion TV can be a good
inspiration to train harder. Making push-ups in the open air is
even better, especially if you are in a beautiful place near the
beach, feeling the tender touch of the sea breeze.
Let the exercises be a part of your trip In many of the best
resorts worldwide you can find outdoor fitness areas where you
can spend some time working out. It is not a rule to do it only
in the gym.
In Rio de Janeiro there is a nice outdoor fitness area situated
between Copacabana and Ipanema. You will be surrounded by all
the equipment you need for a good training and also good looking
people - can you imagine a better inspiration?
And the best time to do so is during the beautiful sunset, when
the heat is replaced by cool breeze and the sky is colored in
pink and orange.
You can do fitness in different ways depending on the place you
travel to. For example in fitness oriented cities like Cape
Town, South Africa and New York City, USA you can experience the
city's life and culture. It is easy to meet new people there and
when you go out at night you can see them in some clubs. If you
go to a place surrounded by nature, like Machu Picchu in Peru,
you can enjoy the nature from a distance or go hiking to some
not so common destination all day long.
If you travel to Central America you can also choose how to
spend your time. Either to spend a relaxing day at the ruins of
Tical in Guatemala or to do some exercises climbing the pyramids
and enjoying from the top the wonderful views of the rainforest
that is all around. In Costa Rica the options are just relaxing
on the beach, or trying two forms of workout - a white-water
rafting or a canopy safari.
If you are going to a tropical beach to spend your vacation
there you can also take advantage and keep fit. It is simple -
jogging on the beach is one of the best ways to tone your legs,
it is healthy for the heart and also for your feet because of
the exfoliate effect of the sand.
There is another very good and easy way to do exercises during a
travel. It is to do yoga. It can be done anywhere and only one
hour can "charge" you with a lot of energy and good humor to
spend a great vacation.
Eat wisely The local cuisine is one of the most impressive
things and a part of the experience while traveling. But there
are some advises how to get that experience without "picking up
flesh". If you love sweets and cannot avoid them, eat them
earlier in the day so you will be able to burn the calories
during the day. If you want to try as many meals as possible,
just take little portions. It is good to have three hours time
between the last meal and bedtime. If you are very hungry before
you go to bed choose some protein and avoid carbs because they
won't burn while you sleep.
Turn the challenge into a plus. The unavoidable changes in the
fitness patterns during a travel can be a good way to make your
home workouts more interesting and exciting. During a trip you
can imagine some new exercises that you can add to your regular
fitness training, besides a beautiful tan.
