Thermal Imaging to See Into Attics for Flood Rescues

After Hurricane Katrina many homes were completely flooded, with their occupants inside. That would people just like you, family and friends. When the floodwaters rose very fast some people were stuck in the homes standing on furniture and then climbed into attic once in the attic some were trapped and not strong enough to break thru to climb onto the roof for rescue. Perhaps they had no tools, a well built roof or were elderly and unable. There is no way to tell how many people are in their attics still alive trapped or how many people are dead in their houses and attics. Some estimate thousands?

I propose putting thermal imaging equipment into rescue helicopter and fly over these homes each night to see if there are people there inside still alive in New Orleans. If so a Helicopter can land on the roof and a soldier can break them out and save them. By looking with the thermal imagining we can see if there is any body temperature heat inside the attics.

It will not be easy but we should be able to save quite a few lives of those who are still alive and have not died of heat exhaustion or lack of food. If we can do this within the next two-days we should be able to save folks trapped. If we wait much longer it will be too late and the opportunity is lost forever along with those lives.

This problematic issue ought to also be looked at and low cost infrared and thermal imaging light weight units need to be put on all rescue helicopters. Think on this.
