New Orleans a Race Against the Clock

The Army Corp of Engineers has their work cut out for them, if the breach in the levees are not stopped and the water drained soon, things will only get worse. There are many options such as using an inflatable dam or even to take some of those barges put them against the levee break and sink them in place with Cargo Containers on them filled with sand? Whatever they do, time is of the essence. The longer we wait the more damage to property once the water starts to decay the buildings they quickly become a total loss.

If they do not do something fast it will only be worse, we have high tides and normal weather too. Hurricane can clear out the clouds for a few days is all, then normal airflows return and it could rain a few inches along with the already full lake.

Last year we saw at least one Hurricane turn around and come back into the Gulf and remain a large tropical storm. Katrina could turn around and it would not be the first time it has happened? Atlanta and other cities would be on the return loop. They got 4.85 inches already, meanwhile all that water in the next week throughout the nation will drain off, guess where? It all exits on the Gulf Coast from TN, MS, AL, OH (much of it), KY, WV (most) and Georgia.

For two weeks that water draining in the rivers from the remnants of Katrina will make its way to the flooded gulf to meet the ocean, that raises every river on the way back and perhaps Hurricane Lee will be on its way by then. We will be challenged and stressing our recovery and clean-up efforts and no one even is thinking ahead. Not to alarm anyone, but those in the know ought to be worried right about now. Some do not realize what we are up against with all of September and early October the worst months of Hurricane Season. We have ahead of us warm waters, more storms and the already damaged areas. Think on this.
