You Can Play But You Won't Win
If you are looking for a quick way to earn some cash, you might
consider cleaning out your garage or attic and holding a jumble
sale, because easy money will not be found at an online poker
table. The competition is fierce and it is going to get tougher
as players log more and more hours into their favourite UK poker
rooms.
Freerolls are a great way to ease your way into tournament play
and can provide you with valuable practice with nothing at
stake. However, if you think that all players who participate in
freerolls are beginners, think again. Many experienced players
use freerolls to decide whether or not they like playing at a
particular poker room.
If you are driven to play in one of the larger tournaments that
almost all of the online poker rooms have on Friday and
Saturday, then by all means, jump straight in. The players are
always open to new faces in the larger tournaments, especially
since experienced players have the "process of elimination" down
to an art form.
If you can go into a room and resist the temptation to chat you
are a lot better off. The players that have been doing this for
a while will engage you in polite conversation while allowing
some of the opponents to set you up for losing hands. It happens
all the time.
Confidence is a sign of strength and there is no need to be
wishy-washy in the game of poker. If you must play in the
tournaments with hefty buy-ins before you have learned all of
the strategies that can help improve your play, then you must
play a very tight game of poker.
Make sure you "know" the game, or stick to the ring games before
progressing to the larger tournaments.
