Soul Food
Appreciation and gratefulness are like a dog. You've got to feed
it.
Each and every single one of us has something profoundly moving
that we can connect to very easily three hundred and sixty-five
days a year. It is something so wondrous and beauteous that our
souls can be stirred and we can connect with our source. This
something is so grand it can take our breath away. It is so
incredible it can make our hearts sing. It is so mesmerizing
that it can pull us out of our boxes and transmit us to other
times and other realities. It is so vast and immense it can put
our lives in perspective.
For most of us, we don't have to go far to experience this
stupendous and epiphanic thing. We just have to walk outside our
homes and look up into the night sky. The night sky is always
there for us to gaze up into the mighty universe. The very
universe is right there for all to see. The freaking universe is
right there! It's right there, just a few steps away, waiting
for us to connect with it.
How often do we step outside at night and gaze up at the
universe in the night sky? How can one look up at the stars in
the night sky and NOT be filled with gratefulness and
appreciation? I think just about everyone can appreciate the
night sky. So if you want to feel appreciation and gratefulness
all you have to do is go outside, clear your mind, and stare up
at the stars and galaxies above. It's that easy! It's that close!
Think of the stars and moon and milky way and everything in the
night sky as food that you can feed the appreciation and
gratefulness growing within you. While staring at the night sky,
feel it feeding you. Feel the grandness of it. Feel the
sacredness of it. Feel the whole universe flowing into you and
feel the appreciation and gratefulness grow and expand.
Luxuriate in those feelings. Step into them.
With a ten to twenty minute feeding every night the appreciation
and gratefulness within us will begin growing significantly.
(Sleep will be better, too.) Our connection with the universe
will grow stronger and it will carry over into the rest of our
day. We will even start seeing the daytime sky and landscape
differently, too. The universe can empower us in infinite ways.
Connecting to it regularly will nourish our souls and feed the
love and joy growing in our beings.
And it's so close and available and accessible! And free, even.
The universe is right there for us to see but we have put roofs
over our head so we don't see it regularly and we forget it is
there. We have cut ourselves off from one of our primary sources
of nourishment. Our levels of appreciation and gratefulness have
suffered because of that. But it's an easy problem to remedy....
Go outside! Look up! It's that easy.
