Avoiding The Biggest Article Mistakes

Are you having success with your articles? Or don't you know? Are you blindly spewing out articles because you heard it was a good way to market your site? Article marketing can be very effective if done right. But too many writers are making fatal mistakes with every article they write. Content Does your article offer quality content to the reader? Will they learn something new or does it provide valuable information? Or is it a spam filled plug for your website or affiliate program? Are you establishing yourself as somewhat of an expert in what you are writing about? Is your article original and not copied from someone else? If you can't write in your own words don't bother submitting it to any article directory. Have you checked your article for spelling and grammar mistakes? Links Do the links in your bio or about author work? Are they clickable so the reader can go directly to your website? This is the main purpose behind article writing and marketing. If your links don't work than your hard work will never pay off. Have you filled your article with links in the body of your article? Most article directories ban this practice. Live links are only allowed in the about author area. Have you included your full http:// URL in the event your article is republished without a live link? It allows the reader to cut and paste your web address in their browser. Categories When you submit your article to an article directory are you choosing the most appropriate category? If you don't then the article directory owner may put you in a category that they choose or decline your article all together. Choosing the most appropriate category groups you with other relevant articles, which is helpful when the search engines spider the site. It is also helpful when someone is just browsing or searching for similar articles. Guidelines Are you following each article directories guidelines for submission or don't you care? Are you making it hard or difficult for them to accept your article? Are you taking advantage of all they have to offer including an expanded author bio with links to your site? Success Are you tracking your success rate? Do you go back and check your article stats to see how popular your articles are and how many times they have been downloaded? Have you done a Google search to find out where they have been republished? Are you following up to make sure your links stay live when they are published on another site? If they are not clickable links do you email the webmaster and ask that they correct it? Following these simple guidelines will help you successfully market your articles. Don't make the same mistakes that other authors make everyday.
