Film Review-The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

Friendship, Love, and Relationships those are three words that sum up "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" movie in theaters now. The movie which is based on the novels written by New York Times Best Selling author Ann Brasher. "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" is about more than just a magical pair of pants. In the movie, four friends whose mothers have been friends since before the girls were born embark on a journey. As the film opens you see the girls heading to a thrift store looking for something for Lena to take with her on her trip to Greece. While trying on clothes and making small talk the four girls Lena, Bridget, Tibby, and Carmen find a pair of jeans. At each friend's prompting they try on this pair of pants and magically it fits each one of them. The four decide because of the magic of this pair of pants that they will share the pants between them all summer long. While the friends remain close in their hearts each friend is going on a different journey. Quiet, reserved artistic, Lena is going to visit her grandparents in Greece. Outgoing, spunky, try anything Bridget is going to soccer camp in California/Mexico. Colorful, Bright, and Sunshiny Carmen is going to South Carolina to be with her father and Sarcastic, Dreary, Pessimistic Tibby who is going to spend her summer working at Wallmans as a clerk. Tibby is also a young film maker and will be working on her suckomentary.P> As you watch the film you see each girl on their journey and watch as they meet people who enhance and affect their lives in different ways. Tibby in her wallow while working at Wallmans meets a young gal Bailey who becomes her sidekick and interviews people for her suckomentary as she likes to call it.

While Bridget meets Eric a hands off soccer coach at camp who she is interested in. You can tell Bridget always gets what she wants. Bridget hasn't gotten over her mother's death who committed suicide when Bridget was in her early teen years.

Lena who you see in beautiful Greek country meets her grandparents and embarks on her own journey of sorts. Lena meets a handsome young fisherman when she falls into the water while sketching architecture.

Carmen however doesn't really have a great vacation because she goes to her dad's only to find out that he is getting married. At times I wanted to slap her dad and yell at him to "Wake Up" I mean he treated his daughter like she wasn't even his daughter. He really needed a wake up call.

The actresses in this film are definitely made for this film. America Ferraro, Amber Tamblyn, Alexis Bledel, Blake Lively are simply amazing. The roles were definitely created for them. Amber (Tibby)does a wonderful job portraying a teenager who is having a drab summer but embarks on a journey bigger than herself and learns more about herself than she thought she would. While America brings heart to the film. Grab your kleenex box folks this one is a tear jerker!

This film will have you laughing, crying, and smiling as you learn the value of friendship, love, and relationships all enhanced and shared by this magical pair of pants.

This film is a MUST SEE!! for any young teenage girl. If you have one film you are going to see this summer...Go see "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" then email me and tell me what you thought of it. You'll be glad you went!!
