Internet is our greatest step in evolution
I've said it before and I'll say it again. The Internet is the
most incredible tool that has been created by humanity since
many of us stopped hunting and gathering and started cultivating
our own food. It is obviously still in its infancy but let me
tell you it's thriving better than lettuce grown with
hydroponics. People have always dreamt of, searched for, and
believed in magic items like the Holy Grail, the lost Ark of the
Covenant, the Fountain of Youth, and the sword Excalibur. They
may exist or may be mythical. Either way, if only a few have
experienced their power then how much did they really change the
world? It's debateable to be sure. The incredible fact that we
must now grasp is that we've unwittingly become the keepers of a
tool that already has and will keep on evolving our collective
human society. It's not imagined, and it may just be so simple
and special that its relative importance has slipped unnoticed,
right under our noses. The Internet is a key to human
happiness, a door to knowledge, a window to freedom, and a
pencil to write you into the story of the world. It is like a
giant cauldron of wisdom, experience, thought, and emotion mixed
together by the spirits of billions of our brothers and sisters.
It is a book written in numerous tongues sharing the research,
training, and intense practice of every person's individual life
for the collective to learn from. It will become our place to
connect with others socially, our workplace, our means to
entertainment, our library, and our personal diary. The outside
world will still be there but the main way we interact with it
will be through this powerful portal. Don't worry; sitting in a
forest sharing information with colleagues on the other side of
the globe will be more close at hand than ever before. It's
through the sharing of ideas on the Internet that the forests
will still be there at all. It is the ultimate extension of
human consciousness. Through connecting our thoughts with each
other, the world we wish to create will be born.
Some would say that I am sounding I slight bit idealistic, maybe
even a little utopian in my calculations. You're right I am. I
have faith in every person that gets out of bed in the morning
and who goes to work for the betterment of our species. I
believe that we can do anything that we desire. Our minds are
deeper and more unexplored than outer space. Look at what we've
achieved with what little understanding we've attained thus far.
Oh, there's bad in the world. Negativity has over-ripened into a
black banana of News' focus and TV hype. That's the balance of
the Universe my friends. It is totally necessary to go through
these stages of paradoxical imbalance if we are to learn and
achieve as much as we can. Learning from our mistakes has always
been the hardest but most thorough way to reaching our desired
goals in life.
If our evolutionary process takes one step backward after every
two steps forwards you have to realise that we are on our way
down the path of enlightenment. If we showed the humans of a
millennium ago that we had a tool that let doctors share vital
knowledge with fellow healers from a completely different
culture in a foreign land in a matter of seconds via video and
sound, they would have either had a heart attack or at least
soiled their pants. We are coming together as a complete and
unified human tribe. Oh, there are still wars, racial and
religious persecution, starvation and unequal wealth
distribution. This is just the tip of the iceberg of learning.
Globally, things are better than they've ever been, and
gradually less and less are going to live in poverty, ill
health, or oppression. You can see it's happening, just push
aside the blinders that strange scaremongers have stuck in front
of our eyes for whatever uncalled for prerogative they've
mistakenly undertaken.
Why do I believe so strongly in our collective evolution of
consciousness, knowledge, and wisdom? We people are like trees
more than we would ever hope to comprehend. The more we
understand and share our experiences of life, the more we grow
our species' branches upward towards the sky of happiness, our
roots deep down into the earth of love, and the thicker and
stronger our trunk gets so that we will never fall down and
disappear, not even after we've died. Like an ancient petrified
hollowed-out log our legacy will live on. I'm sure we will even
find a way to share our gained insight with other cultures,
societies, and civilisations long after our planet and solar
system have disappeared. I mean, what's the use in creating a
peaceful life for just our own family? We've got to start
thinking 'big' people. The Universal neighbourhood needs our
positive input, and we're on our way to making it happen.
There is some 'crap' on the Internet now. It's obvious, isn't
it? But look at the first airplane back in the Wright brothers'
era. Then look at the jumbo airbuses in the sky today. The crap
will wash away like a pig in a bathtub. We will create the
Internet that's destined to be a place where you can learn about
anything and everything that comes to your mind. The whole
Universe will be at our fingertips. You want to know about how
long the Sun will live? Type 'Length of life of Sun' into your
search engine and the answer to your question will stare you in
the face. Want to know what the lump is under your armpit? Type
in (or speak if you don't have the means to type, the technology
exists-we made it) 'Armpit lumps' and answers will arrive, plus
means to solving the issue of how to get rid of the lump. For
any thought or query we will find answers, ideas, and beliefs on
the subject made by informed members of our global community.
This is just the beginning. Plug in, get on-line, and both
sharing your ideas and opinions, as well as accessing our
collective pool of knowledge will one day go from being third
nature, to second nature, to simply our 'nature'.
