Wake Up Call
Wake Up Call One wonders, how can a people develop pride in
themselves when their people continue to do stupidness? I have
love for my people, and I have hope that by pointing out where
they are going wrong, it will let all people know that we don't
all think or do ridiculousness.
item #1: Lil Kim get BIG air on Small Screen
After having been found GUILTY for lying on the stand, BET
decides to do a reality show that will follow LIL KIM around for
her last days of freedom. I guess the executives figured that
since Blacks make up the majority of inmates, a reality show
based on one of us going to prison would have a much wider
audience, than say, doing one on a former CEO going to jail. For
BET to capitalize on the sad reality of our culture is a to me a
white collar version of a black on black crime.
Item #2 Busta acts a fool, but at least he's no snitch
Someone kills Busta Rhymes bodyguard, allegedly right in front
of him. The gunman allegedly leaves with Tony Yayo (or was it
just in Yayo's car...). Busta will not (as of Feb 24th anyway)
co-operate with the police investigation. While he is not
verbally saying he is not a snitch, actions speak louder than
words. This mentally of "f*ck the police, we'll handle it
ourselves" (from a Young Buck rap song) is one of the most
ridiculous pieces of fiction I continue to hear about. Maybe
it's the weed, but rappers just don't live in a real world.
Neither do thugs and bangers. They make up the minority of our
people, yet they constantly get the public spotlight. It's time
for the few of them with some sense step up and talk reality.
The only one I have heard so far was Eminem, who, on Curtain
Call, told it like it was when he talked about how executives
would get rich by all the beef rappers get themselves into, with
no fear of violent reprecussions.
Item #3: Nigga Please!
Last, but not least on our list of genuises is Damon Wayans. He
has been trying for a whole year now to get the word "Nigga"
trademarked, as he has a series of money making ideas to be
developed from it. This is not a joke, although I hoped it was.
Thank God there does not seem to be much of a chance of this
being accepted. Does Damon think that because he happens to be
black, he can own that word? There is a precedent with the
Redskins (NFL) and Eskimos (CFL) being owned by whites. Once
Nigga is legalized, what would stop any other business person
from suing for the words Blackskins, or Darky? Absolutely
nothing
