Robotic Research in the United States

The United States is behind in robotic research although we are a big buyer of the technology. The rest of the world especially in Europe and Asia are ahead of us in the field of robotics by quite a bit and pouring money into their research at a rate almost ten times our national governmental funding.

Even with this said, there are a few stand out Universities holding up our United States robotics research. For instance Carnegie Mellon University has a six-legged robot, which can scale vertical walls; great for exploring Pyramid ventilation systems to the Kings chambers, military applications of saving Earthquake survivors.

MIT has some self assembling robotic systems which are getting smarter all the time using advanced artificial intelligence, able to change shapes to get around obstacles and build themselves like a Lego castle.

There are also very small robots which can travel at speeds of 8.2 feet per second and go over two and a half miles on one battery charge. Also we have developed NASA
