Wildfires in the United States cost millions each year. Most of the wildfires are caused by lightning strikes during intensive thunderstorms, but a good bit of the wildfires and often the most destructive fires are caused by man. Human carelessness such as forgetting to completely put out a campfire or something so stupid as to throw a cigarette butt out the window can lead to a huge fire. Often in areas which are drought stricken no matter what caused it, once it gets going, there is little anyone can do, but get as many resources in there as possible and attempt to control it. That costs us taxpayers a whole lot of money. Money, which we could be using to fund other things of importance, such as schools, roads, infrastructure and healthcare.

The most hideous of all fires are started by Arsonists, who purposely and willfully go out of their way to torch the land. These criminals are the worst kind of humans. You need to teach your children about fires and their danger, teach them not to smoke and if they do to make sure never to throw those cigarette butts out the window. And don
