Read this Article if You Want to Stop West Nile Virus

While everyone is looking the other way at migratory birds and chickens, which could get the Bird Flu, West Nile Virus is planning another season. Bird Flu may come to the US and it might adapt and modify itself to infect humans, but we already know about West Nile and it threatens to kill livestock, horses and some people. Each year the West Nile Virus grows and kills more people. This year will be no different.

Not everyone who gets West Nile Virus dies, actually most can handle it, but some people react different than others and some with weakened immune systems are not so lucky. Some counties in many states have ramped up their mosquito abatement programs to try to rid the problem. This does help as Mosquitoes are the primary vector of transfer. Migratory birds have it and the mosquitoes suck blood from them and virus is on the stinger. Generally a female mosquito will suck the blood from one to three birds and then is able to lay 400 eggs. Oh great you say. Exactly you see the problem.

Now if the Mosquito suck your blood first you maybe okay and it only needs a little more blood to lay eggs, but if it gets one bird and finishes with you and that bird was infected now you are too. Mosquito Abatement is about the only possible short-term solution and it is spotty at best. Do think on it.
