Charity

~ Charity ~

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels,
and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or
a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy,
and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though
I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains,
and have not charity, I am nothing.

Charity suffereth long

But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious
(longsuffering and plenteous) in mercy and truth. Psalm 86:15

and is kind

But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again ...
for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Luke 6:35

charity envieth not

For we ourselves also were sometimes ... living in malice
and envy (hateful, and hating one another). Titus 3:3

charity vaunteth not itself

.... vaunt themselves against me, saying,
Mine own hand hath saved me. Judges 7:2

is not puffed up

Let no man beguile you of your reward ... vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind ...
not holding the Head ... as though living in the world ... subject to ordinances
(Touch not; taste not; handle not; Which all are to perish with the using;)
after the commandments and doctrines of men? Col. 2:18-22

Doth not behave itself unseemly

... men, leaving ... the woman, ... men with men working
... is unseemly ... Romans 1:27-28

seeketh not her own

Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and
likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not power
of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband
hath not power of his own body, but the wife. 1 Co. 7:3-4

is not easily provoked

And let us consider one another to provoke
unto love and to good works. Hebrews 10:24

thinketh no evil

Evil pursueth sinners ... Proverbs 13:21

Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed
innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity;
wasting and destruction are in their paths. Isaiah 59:7

The fear of the Lord is to hate evil
(pride, and arrogancy) ... Proverbs 8:13

Evil men understand not judgment: but they that
seek the Lord understand all things. Proverbs 28:5

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,
saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil,
to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11

But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil:
but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek,
turn to him the other also. Matthew 5:39

Rejoiceth not in iniquity

For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he
who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 2 Th. 2:7

Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal,
The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one
that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 2 Tim. 2:19

but rejoiceth in the truth

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:32

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. 3 John 1:4

Beareth all things

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit,
that we are the children of God. Romans 8:16

believeth all things

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth
on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works
than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. John 14:12

hopeth all things

So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth. Job 5:16

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory,
may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the
knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being
enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling,
and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who
believe, according to the working of his mighty power. Ep. 1:17-19

endureth all things

If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons ... Hebrews 12:7

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Romans 8:14

Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail;
whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge,
it shall vanish away ... And now abideth faith, hope, charity,
these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

1 Co. 12:27-13:13
