The viral war

The viral war

John 10:10(KJV)
"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."
1 John 3:8(KJV)
"He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil."
In the computer world, viruses have led to colossal waste of resources for many who have both home or office computers, even corporate bodies in the industrialised world. Therefore several anti-virus software are available which need to be installed so as to scan,detect,repair,quarantine,exclude,and/or delete viruses.
According to the Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary,a computer virus is defined as 'a computer programme or part of a computer programme which can make copies of itself and is intended to prevent the computer from working normally'

Proverbs 4:23(KJV)
"Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life."
On the issue of divine destiny,'the viral war' is so real with devastating effect on mankind both individually and corporately.
This viral war takes place in the human heart/mind against God and his purposes for any person or people since the fall of man in the garden of Eden.
In this context,a 'virus' is anything that works against God and his purposes for any person or people.
To be more specific,a 'virus' is anything that makes one to doubt, ignore, deny,or disobey God and his plans for one's life.
When these 'viruses' are not properly handled, they lead to people living and dying unfulfilled!
These enemies of divine destiny have been discussed briefly in an earlier article 'the open door'.
These 'viruses' are propagated through the diabolical trio known as the devil(the thief);the flesh(the sinful nature);and the world system in which we all live.
They can even infect a person from the point of conception!
This invasion of the 'viruses' is both aggressive and cunning, using various media!
Just as computer viruses have names, these 'viruses' have names like 'Fear','Doubt',and 'Bitterness'.
It is interesting to note while fear is part of the body's natural defence system,it is when it takes over a person's life(Prov.29:25) that it becomes a 'virus'!

Proverbs 23:26(KJV)
"My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways."
The turning point of the battle is when a person gives his/her heart to Jesus Christ to cleanse it with his precious blood(Rev.1:5) and then make it his palace,
and his throne as the person's King.
Without this cleansing and conversion, the human heart outside the grace of God is naturally vulnerable to the attack and effect of 'viruses'(Jer.17:9).

Eph.4:27(NIV)
"and do not give the devil a foothold."
God's 'anti-virus software' is very practical in handling any kind of 'virus'.
Firstly God offers himself as the shield('the personal firewall') of every person in Christ-Gen.15:1;Psalm 3:3.
Secondly,in the Lord God every follower of Christ has the responsibility to allow in his/her heart the peace of God to rule(Col.3:15),and the word of Christ to dwell(Col.3:16).
Thirdly, being strong in the Lord and the power of his might(Eph.6:10) each Christian needs to put and keep on the armour of God(Eph.6:11-18),and to fight the 'viruses' using spiritual weapons(2 Cor.10:3-6) as concisely discussed in an earlier article 'making an impact'

Proverbs 14:30(KJV)
"A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones."
Finally, for anyone whose heart/mind seems to be corrupted by these 'viruses' to the point of ill-health,God has covenanted himself through Jesus Christ to his people
as our healer(2 Peter.2:24).
The healing process could seem gradual or sudden.
For this process to be effective, one needs to allow God as one's healer to choose and use various agents/agencies.
The following should be of help:-

The love, understanding, and prayers of trusted family members and friends(Mark 2:3).
Proper,and sound counselling(Prov.11:14).
Casting out of demons(evil spirits) if and when their presence and activity are discerned{not speculated}(Mark 1:34).

Moreover, since God is never in a hurry, one should be patient with him and his timing if 'an instant cure' has not been experienced!

2 Tim.1:7(KJV)
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
