Poker has spread to such extent that many Poker terms are used by people without even knowing they came from the game. Phrases such as ace in the hole, beats me, blue chip, call the bluff, cash in, pass the buck, poker face, stack up, up the ante, when the chips are down, wild card are terms used while playing Poker, and many will use this terms on everyday situations. Tournaments have been created for Poker players to test their skill against other players and win recognition in the Poker community.

One of the main events which started on 1970 is the World Series of Poker (WSOP). The event has gathered the best Poker players of the world and has raised their main event winning pot up to 5 million dollars. The event has also expand and has more than 30 kinds of different poker styles with different rules and even people, like games in which only women were permitted. The number of players has also grown having 13,000 contestants in 2004.

Today, Poker has been carefully regulated by federal laws and many casino saloons have closed or moved to other locations. But still Poker maintains its reputation as the most played card game in the world, attracting new enthusiasts and maintaining professional poker players at the tables.

Poker will still maintain its popularity because of the interesting factors of the game, like psychology, bluffing, randomization (luck!) and even cheating has become a whole new job and skill for many poker fans, even if it
