Pizza at The Health Club - or The Power of Commitment

Simply amazing...

I went to the gym at 4:30 for a workout before dinner. I got there and was greeted by a smiling young lady and three pies of hot steaming pizza. "Would you like some?"

I didn't even make it to the locker room yet!

It's the way we do things in our lives. We make a "commitment" to get healthy, or to make more money, or to be a better husband, or wife, or parent, or friend...

And then society throws up a challenge. "Just how COMMITTED are you?"

And it worked like a charm. About half of the folks walking in went right for the pizza before they went for the weights.

Ever try doing cardio with pizza moving down your esophagus? How about heavy weightlifting?

At first I was going to say something to the manager on duty - that it was a poor idea to put pizza in front of people who have come in to a health club, most of whom want to lose weight.

Then I thought about it and realized it wouldn't change a thing. The people who are TRULY commited to making a change would bypass the pizza and head straight for the exercise equipment.

I'm not judging anyone. If I did, I'd have to start with myself. For most of my life I would have been one of the first people to put the pizza down my throat.

But here's the thing - I have a VISION of where I want to be. In the case of exercise, I've come a long way from where I was a short time ago. I'm 39 and in better shape than at any point in my adult life.

I made the COMMITMENT to good health (and rippling muscles). No pizza is strong enough to get in the way of my commitment.

Same thing for my wife. She lost 100 pounds and has kept it off for five years and counting because she made the COMMITMENT to be in a new and better place in her life.

She found the nutritional products and the support system that were the METHODS... But the COMMITMENT came from within. (Wanna read her story? Check out www.ILost100Pounds.com)

So the folks who went for the pizza will probably be the ones who disappear from the gym in a few weeks, only to come back after their next bad report at the doctor (or the new New Year's Resolution.)

And the folks who stayed away from the pizza (like my friend Bob) will be the ones in top physical shape and enjoying their good health.

Think this same thing works with your FINANCIAL health? You better your sweet bippy! Lots of folks make a choice to start a home business, or go after a promotion, or get a second job. They want more money, or a better lifestyle.

But just like the pizza, something shows up to challenge their COMMITMENT. The hours get long, or the family complains, or they have to do something that's more difficult than what they've done before...

Or someone makes fun of them for their ambition - tries to pull them back to the middle of the crowd...

Or maybe their missing their Gilligan's Island reruns. Who knows? Gut check time comes, and they found their COMMITMENT wasn't there.

It's OK - still not making any judgements. It took Diane and I quite a while and a lot of pain before we were willing to make the COMMITMENT to become the kind of people who succeed in a home business.

That's why we INVITE people to work with us - not convince them. If I talk someone into it who doesn't have the COMMITMENT coming from inside, they'll crash and burn. Not cool.

But the person who can set a VISION for their future...

and walk past the temptation to take the easy way out...

and do the uncomfortable until it becomes comfortable...

and stick with a group of people who are thinking just a little bit smarter than the rest of the crowd...

THIS is the person who succeeds in a home business. Might not be overnight. We all have things that get in our way. The time it takes to get past our obstacles and learn and do the things we need to is the time it takes to get successful.

Not hard stuff. Actually it's quite simple. It's just a matter of getting the VISION of where we want to be...

Making the COMMITMENT to get there...

And welcoming the SUCCESS AND PROSPERITY that comes along with it!
