Ready, Aim, Pfft?

Do you hit what you aim for?

Well, actually it's not about aim so much as it's about focus.

Imagine this: You have found yourself in the unfortunate position of what appears to be an unavoidable car accident. A car has wandered over the white line and is coming right attcha! Horrors! What are you looking at? Right! Your distended eyeballs are locked on to this Four-Wheeled Monster.

And what do you hit? Why the Four-Wheeled Monster, of course!

Another example: You are learning to play tennis. And that dratted net just keeps getting in the way of your ball. No matter how much you concentrate on missing that net, you just keep hitting it.

Final example: You decide to try out slalom skiing. There are those poles you are not supposed to hit. But they are so in the way! You try really hard to miss them, but you are hitting more than you miss.

Okay, what's the point here? You are aiming for what you don't want! You don't want to hit the car, you don't want to hit the net and you don't want to hit the poles. What would happen if you were to aim at the side of the road where you could go to miss the car? What would happen if you were to aim at the space above the net where you want your ball to travel? What would happen if you were to aim at the space between the poles where you want your skis to take you?

It's called the Law of Attraction. It's a Natural Law. One that will not change at the whim of a political party (don't GET me started!), or a group of mere human beings deciding what is best for the rest of us. This Law is immutable.

The bottom line here is, if you are so focused on what you don't want in your life, where you don't want to go, this law will take you there regardless. We create what we fear.

And the good news is you can change that in a nano-second! We all have the ability. Just being aware of what you are doing is the first step. With the blink of an eye you can decide to focus on the sides of the roads, the spaces above the nets, the spaces between the poles of your life.

Focus on where you would choose to be rather than on where you don't want to be. Do it for just one day, then one week and you will already see desired changes happening.

The best way to break an old habit is to create a new one! You can choose your focus.
