Florida Marlins Handicapping: 2006 Season Preview

The past two seasons have been pretty identical for these Marlins. 83 wins and about -16 units in both of the two seasons.

The Marlins have shown some success against left handed pitching as compared to right handed pitching. Vegas is correctly deciding the odds for the Marlins against left-handed pitching but is overvaluing them by an average of 14 points against right handed pitching. When looking to bet these Marlins, you want them against Lefties.

As a road favorite facing left handed pitching, these Marlins have been 22-10 +9 units over the past 3 seasons. This is not a guarantee that the Marlins will have similar success in the 2006 season but this is definitely a trend that we will be monitoring.

We put a lot of emphasis when we bet baseball to bet on teams that are riding momentum. The Marlins have been an exception the past two seasons. Off of a loss, they are -11 units while off of a win they are -24 units in about the same number of games.

In the 2006 season, we will be looking to bet the Marlins in good spots against left handed pitching. Also if we find them motivated off of a loss. For example, the Marlins are 22-12 +10 units off of a loss in which they gave up double digit runs.
