Human Peer Pressure and Social Fear in Religious Cults

Religious cults and even those religions we do not consider cults due to their size often use peer pressure and fear of the individual being outcaste to keep the grouping tight. Although this could be said to be a negative, it is also used in strengthening sports teams, armies and social groups. So it maybe wise to consider all this behavioral hold is used, what it is used for and who uses it before we condemn it use entirely.
