Playa del Carmen has sugar white sand beaches with transparent turquoise waters ideal for snorkeling. And the sand is always cool to walk on barefoot even if it's 90 degrees out.

Well known Mayan archeological sites are close by.

The most interesting area of Playa del Carmen is 5th Avenue between Constiuyents and Reef Club (Playacar). Here is where you'll find all the shopping. Restaurants. Bars. Night life. Hair braiding and temporary tatooing places.

All beaches are plublic in Playa del Carmen so feel free to hang out on any of them.

There are lodgings at all price-points on the CancunSteve website. From air conditioned rooms in town from less than 40 dollars a night to 5 star plus luxury all-inclusive resorts with gourment restaurants. 24 hour food/bevrage service.

Playa del Carmen is just 30 some-odd miles south of the Cancun international airport.

Drive down or take a local bus.

You may consider taking the ferry over to Cozumel for a day trip to visit Chankanaab Park which has the best snorkeling this side of heaven. Know that cab fares in Cozumel are abusive so taxis from the ferry dock to Chankanaab are high by Cancun standards.

Another side trip to consider is Aktun Chen (did someone just say 'God bless you') No I didn' sneeze. This is the name of a nature park with stalgmites and stalacites in the cave . You'll find Aktun Chen between Akumal and Xel-Ha not far from Playa del Carmen. When you ask directions and someone replies 'God bless you', just say thanks.

When you reserve with CancunSteve you'll say thanks!

The list of things to do in Playa del Carmen is long and must include sunbathe, windsurf, sail, fish, just hang out on the beach, kayak, skydive. There are many cenotes nearby the town. After a morning exploring cenotes try one of the many restaurants in town. Playa offers Italian; Japanese; Mexican; French; Yucatan; seafood of course.
