Vice President Cheney Gets a Raw Deal

FIRE OR HOLD ?

Any one who picks up a gun assumes a responsibility for the life of every one who is with in that guns range, including him or herself. If a firearm is miss handled,it can mame or kill. It's no different than driving a car on a busy street or highway. You must be totally aware with your surrounding and drive for the other guy all the time. You can't just say ,well you shouldn't have been there. A miss handled car or gun can mame or kill, it's as simple as that. Accidents happen on the street, and in the field unfortunately quite often I'm sorry to say ,and being a retired hunter safety instructor I've seen the statistics of what has happened and more often than not ,it's been attributed to poor judgement on the part of the shooter in about 95 percent of the accidents I've investigated.

I've even been a victim on one occasion, where my partner and I were fired upon accidentally ,because we were over a ridge out of sight of another hunting party, and neither one of us even knew the other were there! An accident pure and simple. In my case the one that pulled the trigger was a local celebrity of sorts (Russ Van Dyke) of KCCI TV 8 News (since departed)God rest hi soul. I was lucky though , the pellets were descending and running out of velocity ,so they didn't, do any more than sting when they hit.

The difference here though ,is it just happened to be Vice President Dick Cheney who pulled the trigger of the gun that fired the round that hit his friend Harry. A simple unfortunate accident !One thing that hasn't been said, Does Vice President Cheney shoot with both eyes open,or with the left eye closed? Some people, shoot and have a dominate eye problem where they have to shoot with the left eye closed. If this is the case, the Vice President would have experienced a blind spot while swinging on that quail just large enough ,that his friend Harry would have been totally obscured.

In my opinion, the accident should have been reported immediately to local law enforcement, but the secret service have full jurisdiction over the security and safety of the Vice President, and it would have been quite impossible for them to run security checks on every one coming into the area around the Vice President.

All in all it was a regrettable accident, and read into it what you will, everyone is in my opinion giving The Vice President a raw deal, and that includes the snide remarks about the incident by all the comedians.
