IT: Identity Termination

In the future people who were scam artists, criminals or unfit for society can immediately be terminated from the system, which runs the flows of civilization. That is to say that the criminal will have their identity terminated. Thus they will no longer exist in the system. They will not be able to bank, use an ATM or make any purchases, as they will be totally shut off and shut out.

In such a system, which would be more like George Orwell's 1984 it would not serve any illegal alien to even bother to enter the country, as they would not be able to live, eat or even participate in the society. They would be left out in the cold and potentially starved to death. At which point they would work very hard to try to sneak back out of the country.

In fact in such a future the penalty of identity termination would literally be a death sentence or an exile from society, country and civilization. There have been movies depicted on the silver screen with similar genres, whereby someone's identity was stolen or terminated along with their entire life having been erased. In these movies the individual forfeited all their bank accounts, property and rights. They no longer existed in the system. In such depictions one could only imagine being in their shoes, in fact they couldn't even prove who they were and were labeled criminals.

When computers run civilizations without humans the overall civilization should run smoother, but if you piss off the wrong computer, well then it wouldn't be pretty. As a futurist my job is to point out potential futures not necessarily what will become the actual future. You see, that is for you to decide. Another reason why you should vote, participate and have knowledge of which way things are headed, who is in charge, who is running in what they are thinking. I leave the rest to you, Godspeed. Consider all this in 2006.
