Several simple changes in lifestyle can have a powerful effect in alleviating uncomfortable symptoms of GERD. They are:

1 Quit smoking

2 Quit alcohol

3 If you are overweight, shed the extra pounds

4 Eat smaller meals

5 Eat the evening meal early

6 Wear clothes that are comfortable around the stomach
