Abandoned Academic Research Often Lost

So much research is often started but is forgotten due to the experimentation being incomplete. This is problematic because even partial experimentation can assist another working on the same or similar project in the future.

It would be best for all concerned if huge databases were created of premises and theories going into such experimentation or research or thoughts of the researchers irregardless of the work being completed at the time the experiments were stopped. And the reasons why the experiment was stopped; research monies went dry, more important project, experiment leaded to a more important piece of research or political issues concerning that area of research.

Indeed this in not the arena for white papers but rather for digital notes, thoughts, ideas and concepts. Sometimes the concepts and ideas leading up to the asking of the question are indeed more important than the actual answer you see? Remember Leonardo da Vinci had many notes and drawings of things he never built or found the time to build, but his notes provided lifetimes of work for others. And there is no sense in having college and University students constantly write about the same aspect of every single subject.

In fact some people call me a white paper junkie as I read 5-10 every night, but I often get frazzled to see that the white paper reveals nothing new in the way of known knowledge and certainly does not address anything I have not considered myself. Is my observation and proposal for an abandoned academic research archive a wish for myself? Well, yes that too, but more importantly it would best serve all mankind. Consider this in 2006.
