Time to Bin the Bath?

Baths - probably one of the longest lasting inventions in history. Used by the cavemen, the Victorian's and still used today - but do we still need baths in our lives?!

Times have changed since the days of entire family's sharing cold and dirty bath water, or you and your siblings squeezing into a cold, steel bath. Today - showers in one form or another can be found in households throughout the world. Even in the most unlikely of locations - desert islands - showers can now be found to accommodate foreign tourists who will not settle for anything less than a nice warm shower.

Showers obviously have their advantages. At the push of a button, you have an instant stream of water gushing over your body, at the temperature you choose. None of this dipping your toes in, scalding your feet then running the cold tap for 5 minutes, only to come back and find the water is now stone cold and you're about to flood the bathroom.

Showers are quick too. You can get up in the morning, jump in the shower, get ready for work and off you go. This is not the case with baths unless you want to get up at 5:30am when you're in work at 9. Baths require the heating be switched on for 4 hours before you can even think about turning the taps on. Forget to set the heating to come on and you're going to work smelling like the previous night's dinner. Showers on the other hand are simple - you strip, you turn it on, jump in, clean yourself, get out, dry yourself off, get dressed and jump in the car.

Why then, do we still need baths in our modern day lives? They're slow, dangerous and impractical! The simple answer can be found here:

Whirlpool Baths

I present to you, the Whirlpool Bath. If anyone reading this has ever been in a jacuzzi or spa, you'll be nodding your head in agreement. Whirlpool baths are like a gift from up above. Never in my life have I had a more relaxing, calming and sensual experience as when I spent half an hour in a Whirlpool Bath. This simple invention is reason enough alone to stop you ripping that bath out and replacing it with a dirty great shower enclosure. Whirlpool baths can be bought in various styles and sizes, and with prices coming down on a weekly basis, they are now an affordable luxury.

If you ever decide to make renovations to your bathroom, please consider getting one of these baths, you will not be disappointed. What's more, you'll be late for work everyday, probably end up getting fired, which means you can spend even more time in the bath!

Showers maybe the invention of the 20th century, but the bath is up there with one of the greatest inventions in history.
