Effective coaches assist clients in developing action plan by helping them visualize success and experience momentum through action. Visualization is one of the most important and powerful techniques available because it creates a belief in greater possibilities, fosters action, and allows the client to evaluate and adjust behaviors or plans. In essence, clients must know what they want. Successful athletes have a good idea about their capabilities and therefore they can picture what they want to do. The predominant images before a person affect feelings and communication.

Effective coaches are themselves visionary leaders. The often see what others do not and expect the inexplicable. They understand that the subconscious mind does not differentiate between what is imagined and what is real. The images placed in front of someone are the images which will dominate that person
