Lake Havasu: An Overview

Lake Havasu City, Arizona, is both famous and little-known. The beautiful western city sports the famous London Bridge, which draws crowds from all over the globe. Crossing the Bridgewater Channel from the mainland to a small island on the Colorado River, the bridge was purchased by Robert P. McCulloch when it began to sink into the River Thames in London. McCulloch dismantled the bridge and had it rebuilt brick by brick in Lake Havasu.

However, the city is not as well known for its beautiful landscape and various activities it offers tourists year-round. In addition to the London Bridge, this community and surrounding area also boasts the Colorado River, Lake Havasu, the Mohave Desert, the Sonoran Desert, and Havasu Falls. The tremendous amount of water in the desert town offers locals and visitors alike many opportunities for fun. Boating, fishing, swimming, and white-water rafting are all popular activities. The location also offers many activities for those who do not wish to get wet. In addition to British-style shopping and dining, Lake Havasu also offers gorgeous hiking and camping opportunities.

Lake Havasu is truly a city that has something to offer everyone: a historic bridge for the history buffs, European-style shopping for the fashion queens, numerous water activities for the fish in us all, camping for nature fiends, and even gorgeous landscapes for the artist.
