Buffalo versus Florida Sailing? Our Buffalo Season Wins

Many people take sailing lessons at one of the country's top community sailing programs, Seven Seas Sailing School, where they enjoy a couple seasons in robust comradery, and then rather suddenly relocate to Florida in hopes of 12-month pleasures on their boats.

Seven Seas Sailing School has been teaching Western New York youth, individuals and families the love and art of sailing since 1970. Each year tghere's a start up, and each year there's a season break down. Winter passes, and a new robust season begins.

"It's amazing how many people relocate to Florida, for the sailing, only to find out it lacks our WNY fervor for the squeezed season" says Bill Zimmermann, executive Director of the non-profit Seven Seas.

Zimmermann refers to an email response received from a former WNY sailor who reestablished themselves to Florida a couple years ago only to find he misses our vitality sail seasons:

"It's funny how different parts of the country feel different things at different times of the year. When up north, Easter is a time of renewal, celebration, the birds and the bees, love is in the air, people start launching their boats for the summer, getting their barbie's ready for some serious partying, etc. etc. Down here in Florida, Easter is a time to make sure your hurricane insurance is all paid up, that you have at least two evacuation plans, plenty of bottled water, canned food, keep the car topped off, etc. etc."

"Se la vie, my friend. Gimme WNY anytime," Zimmermann notes. You can view Seven Seas program at http://www.sevenseassailing.com.
