Order of fat loss

While searching though some of the popular fitness forums, I came across a post which listed the types of fat detailing which were the easiest to lose.

from easiest to hardest:

Visceral fat
Deep abdominal fat
Upper superficial abdominal fat
Lower superficial abdominal fat
Hip and thigh fat

It should be noted however, that since most men don't carry hip and thigh fat, the lower superficial abdominal fat ends up being the difficult to get rid of for most males.

Prior to puberty, little boys and little girls have essentially identical fat patterns.

What happens hormonaly basically determines an individuals fat patterns. After this period, research shows that fat cell patterning is essentially 'set' at that time. So the typical male is testosterone dominant, while the typical female will be estrogen/progesterone dominant. This determines what pre-adipocytes (basically dormant baby fat cells) develop to store fat after that. So girls typically get hips thighs and boobies, boys get fat on their stomachs.

Essentially, if you developed hip and thigh fat during puberty, for whatever reason (and note that there are some odd shifts in fat patterning happening these days; I'm seeing more and more girls with visceral fat) you developed fat cell in your hips and thighs, which act just like a typical female's lower body fat in terms of getting super lean.
