Will Iraq Turn Out to Be the Showcase to the Arab World We Had Hoped For?

Many Democrats and liberal political pundits are calling the war in Iraq the total failure. They say we have failed to win the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people and point to the recent mini-Civil War that was going on before the political impasse was broken and all three religious sects united in common cause for peace, liberty and democracy.

Will Iraq turn out to be the Showcase to the Arab World that the United States of America and our Presidential Administration had hoped for? Some say it is not possible, while others are completely optimistic considering the circumstances and the fact that the three major religious parties have put aside the religious differences to work together to rebuild Iraq.

It seems rather interesting that the media and the Democratic Party has started a political firestorm and accused the Bush Administration of this poor performance. In fact, there seems to be no end to the accusations, innuendos and criticism of the President, the State Department and the United States Military as we approach the next election season.

We must ask ourselves as citizens, how much of this is actually reality based and how much is pure primate politics as usual coupled with the mass media hysteria we have come to know and expect, as the political opposition party purports chaos and controversy in the sound and fury of the human endeavor.

The fact is that nothing that is good in life will ever be easy, nor should we expect an easy path in Iraq. But, we must have confidence in our leadership and agree to be patient as the Iraq government works through the process of bringing the country back together and we work on our duty to help to rebuild the security forces to prevent further disruption. Consider this in 2006.
