We Need a Non-Hostile, Non-Radical and Non-Fascist Government in Iraq

The new Iraqi government is now a democracy and before we started it was a dictatorship ruled with and iron fist by Saddam and his sons and their thugs. The stories that came out of Iraq of torture, mass murder and sexual abuse atrocities were overwhelming. How could any human being treat people like that? Well, all that has changed now and we have purple fingers to show for it. The Iraqi people have voted for liberty, democracy and a free Iraq.

We watched as Iraq went through a mini-Civil War, as the various religious sects, which had been at each other's throats started to bomb each other's Mosques. We watched the bloodshed and understood that their Civil War was not our war and we stood by and tried to keep peace, while we educated and trained their security forces to promote justice and weed out insurgents and terrorists amongst them.

We need a non-hostile and non-fascist government in Iraq and getting rid of Saddam has done a lot to bring that goal closer to reality. But now, we must work on the radical fundamentalism, which is so common in the Middle East and help the country work through its differences as it comes together in a common cause.

Some say the war in Iraq has been a total failure, however a free Iraq in the center of the Middle East is something that is very good for future generations and peace in the region and therefore the world. Although we do not know for sure there is a good chance that our involvement in Iraq and going in when we did may have staved off WW III. It is time to recognize these facts and stop condemning the United States Military, the Bush Administration or the United States of America State Department. Consider this in 2006.
