Caring for the Nutritional Needs of the Cancer Patient and the Carer

Caring for a seriously ill loved one is not something we actively prepare for, yet most of us at some time in our lives will find ourselves as primary carer to a parent, a spouse or one of our children.

When we are caring for someone else - it is natural for us to focus our attention solely on providing for them, the best physical, emotional and nutritional support available. In doing so, it is easy for us to lose sight of the needs of our own body and as a result, our health can suffer.

It is not unusual for a carer to closely monitor the patients diet, making sure they are receiving necessary nutrients, either by food or supplements
