Cleaning Up the Environmental Disaster in Indonesia from the Great Tsunami

The Sumatra Earthquake and the Great Indonesia Tsunami, which followed was the most devastating natural disaster and killer of our modern era and present period. Billions of dollars poured in to help the surviving victims. After the area was mopped up we see that left behind is an eco-system mini-disaster. Cleaning up this environmental disaster has not been easy, but still more work needs to be done.

Therefore on behalf of an online Think Tank Forum, I propose that we get specific and concentrate on the biggest and most pressing concerns to heal the environment and protect life.

Four Point Plan;

- Secure simple water filtration systems with little or no maintenance in the villages and diversion canals for safe run off of animal waste and pollution

- Set up self-operated simple sewage treatment systems discharging to low area lagoon or to the ocean where natural out tide or rip tides exist

- Set up simple electricity generation alternative energy sources with low or no maintenance

- Education of people about living with animals, help them to build animal safe shelters of strong material for this purpose.

Do you have additional insight or ideas on how to do this? Perhaps you have some considered such things as well. We must all stand tall and work to mend such area after Natural Disasters, whether they are from Floods, Earthquakes, Tsunamis or Hurricanes; please consider this in 2006.
