The Implanted Word

James 1:21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

James had a way of getting right to the point without mincing words or beating around the bush. We should all be like that.

I would like to discuss what the Word is saying about receiving the Word of God. I believe most Christians would say that they would want their faith to work or have faith that produces. I believe God wants us to walk in faith even more than we do.

We know that without faith it is impossible to please God. Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

We could infer by this that it takes faith to please God. Have you ever wondered why this is? It takes some effort on our part to accomplish this. Many people say we just automatically have faith as God has given to each man the measure of faith.

Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

God has given to each of us the measure or ability it takes to fulfill the plan and purpose of our calling on our lives. We see this if we read on.

4. For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, 5. so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. 6. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith;

We still have a responsibility to receive God
