Employment and Career Opportunities in Automotive Sector

There is a huge shortage of automotive technicians in the automotive sector presently and it is growing. By 2007 it is expected to be 188,000 people short. Even with all the layoffs at General Motors, Delphi and Ford Motor Co. there is no way to fill the gap fast enough to fix the shortage.

Meanwhile many of the technicians in the auto sector are being required to upgrade their certifications for working on OEM equipment. With a shortage of mechanics in the auto sector and an increase in the number of turcks, cars and boats being sold in the United States of America this poses a real dilemma.

The auto sector is not the only place where there's a shortage of jobs right now, also the trucking industry and in the aviation industry we have a shortage of air traffic controllers. It appears that the transportation sector has jobs for anybody who wants to work. However with unemployment numbers at 4.9 percent you can understand the problem.
