About 12,000 deaths by un-necessary surgery occur every year in U.S. alone.

The Journal of the American Medical Association has reported that in 2002, in the United States, 12,000 of the men, women, and children who accepted surgery as an answer to their health problem died directly due to the surgery itself.

What makes this situation worse is that every one of the 12,000 deaths was caused by an operation that was not necessary at all to the improvement of the patient
