Hurricanes and Stress Management

When psychologists talk about stress management they usually talk about human adversity, which causes or triggers the human emotion and sets off chemicals in the brain causing stress. Too much stress can overwhelm the human bio-system and cause conflicts with the human immune system.

You must control your stress because it also uses up minerals and vitamins in the body that your brain also needs. We can all think of certain very stressful times in our own lives as well as in the lives of others, as we watch our television sets and the events that are going all around the nation. During the 2005 Atlantic tropical hurricane season we saw people who had lost everything and that certainly must be a tremendously stressful event and nearly impossible to manage.

Yet if those people can get through that level of adversity and maintain strength of character without getting too stressed out then surely you can overcome the stress in your life. Consider if you will how those people got over their stress in those years and then consider things that bother you and how trivial they really are in the overall scheme of things.

You must work on your stress management and one way to do this is to understand that there are people just like you who we have gone through so much more. And if they can do it you can to. Please consider this in 2006.
