Hurricanes and Domain Name Registrations

Perhaps you have considered buying up Domain Names of Major Hurricanes. But of course you need to buy them in advance and then set them up and hope these Hurricanes Mature. Yah, you SOB, now you are wishing for Hurricanes? Have you no shame or common decency. Well, luckily the Hurricanes are personal first names and most are taken such as; Alberto.com and Katrina.com

Nevertheless, not all are taken yet each year we know a percentage of Hurricane will become catastrophic and if you owned Katrina.com then during the height of the 2005 Atlantic Tropical Hurricane Season you may have gotten over 10 million hits in a three week period and that is significant traffic indeed. Of course you could have also owned Rita.com or Wilma.com and got half again as many hits on each of those.

Often knowing what might be popular in the future is a crap shoot and a lot of luck, yet those who buy domain names and wish to sell them obviously hope to get lucky more often than not and many do sell these domain names for a huge chunk of change.

Domain Name squatting is often considered a rather dismal part of the Internet, but many people are making quite a bit of money doing this. And if you are into Hurricane Domain Names the list of names goes thru 2010 and you could buy them now and sit on them until then. Consider all this in 2006.
