Several Promotional Tips for your website
When the time has come to start sending hits to your website
the first thing you will wish to do is submit it to the main
directories like Yahoo, DMOZ, Zeal and the smaller niche
directories which relate to your industry. You have a choice of
submitting your site yourself manually or alternately using a
paid submission resource instead. Once you are completed with
the submissions you have the option of using PPC advertising
such as Overture or perhaps the Google adwords program. If you
are a home-based business venture you could be on a tight
budget, however, so note that there are a number of other
methods to drive traffic to your website which are either free
or very low cost. The only drawback to this is that these
methods will often take substantially more time than the paid
ones but in my opinion are generally worth the extra effort,
particularly if you are a home business which needs to do many
tasks in -house anyway.
First of all you can do a reciprical linking campaign. The prime
sites to swap links with in this regard are similiar but
non-competing, of course. As a general example, if your site is
a home improvement site you may want to swap with a home
insurance company but nowt with another home improvement
business site. This type of linking builds web traffic while at
the same time improving your site' link popularity, which will
improve your search engine positioning considerably. After this
campaign you may post to message boards or perhaps trade forums.
These are good free resources that can send you traffic while
you are waiting for your other efforts to pay off. These sources
can improve your link popularity too. You may also post to
Newsgroups (sometimes called Usenet) but be very careful not to
cross-post to more than one newsgroups if you do decide to go
this route or expect to be flamed.
You can also submit to the free classified ad services such as
the eclectic Craigslist.org. You may also choose to search for
'free classifieds' on a favorite search engines and submit to
those too. You can post your site to blogs but only if you have
something truly relevent and interesting to add. You will
certainly want to write some article's as well concerning the
subject of your website and post it to the article directories
like ideamarketers.com, for example. There are numerous other
free reprint article directories similiar to this one and some
will even syndicate your article for you. You get to have your
resource box at the bottom of your article and this can increase
your click throughs. If you are writing about a topic you know a
great deal about, you should be able to write an article fairly
quickly. For this reason I also recommend joining a discussion
list like Topica or Yahoo groups. You can post replies and new
subjects as well as posting your website for additional traffic.
