I love you dad

Being or becoming a dad can at times be overwhelming. From the very beginning, when we get the news a lot of us are left to feel like outsiders or intruders. The experience an expecting mom has to go thru is something way beyond our comprehension. It is something a man has never gone through and something we can never fully take part in. Instead of pulling away or feel self pity, during these nine first months of your babys existence there are things you can do to be supportive and start feeling like a dad. Remember you are pregnant too, and there is no reason for you to feel like a third party. If you have just become a dad your questions are probably many and you might even feel some jealousy towards the little one. This is not an abnormal feeling but one that you need to get rid of real quick. Get over yourself and start bonding with your bundle of joy. This time right after birth is your time to get to know him/her and vice versa. Hold them, feed them, dress them, change them and bath them. Last but not least love them. Do not be intimidated by their size, a baby is not as fragile as he/she looks. During this time you as a dad also need to be there and take the load of mom to a certain degree. Although she might appear to be her old self again this process takes quite a while both mentally and physically. Let her worry only about the baby during this period and you take over other responsibilities as well as spending time with your baby. One very important thing for you as a dad is to have a good support network around you. Nobody ever said becoming a dad was easy and we also have a lot of questions and uncertainty about what we are doing. Therefore our best network should be other fathers who have already gone through what you are experiencing now. There are a lot of groups out there for dads only where you can get answers to all your questions and where you can share your experiences with others. Also there are many websites out there for dads only which are a great tool for you to take advantage of. Step up to the plate and be the best dad you can. The best reward you can ever get is when you here these 4 words: I love you DAD!
