Common Cold -A Common Feature Of Our Lives
It is a viral infection which can be termed as one of the most
irritating problem endured by anyone. Even though it is not life
threatening it can make your life hell with the runny nose,
severe headache, sneezing, sore throat and dry cough. It is a
viral infection which can be caused by more than 200 viruses. To
top it all it is a very contagious disease.
It can last for a week or two and sometimes due to the constant
triggering agents it can continue for a longer time. It is one
of the most common reasons for children to skip their school.
Children are one of the commonest victims of cold as they are in
constant touch with other kids who are suffering with this
condition. It is known that adults between the age group of 20
to 30 have at least 2 to 4 colds a year and women are more prone
to it. Older generation who have crossed the 60 limit suffer
less from this disease.
Some of the common signs and symptoms of having cold is a runny
and a very stuff nose, itchy or sore throat, cough, congestion,
body ache, tiredness, fatigue, constant sneezing, watery eyes
and fever. There is a constant heaviness in your chest due to
the congestion.
Even though we tend to think that weather plays a role in making
people suffer this disease. But it hasn't be confirmed. As it is
very contagious it can easily spread through sneezing, coughing,
hand-to-hand contact, sharing clothes, utensils, towels and many
other things. And if you happen to touch your eyes, nose or
mouth after a contact with patient then you are bound to catch
cold.
