Aloe Vera - Is It Just A Laxative (Part II)?
This is the concluding segment of my two-part (Aloe Vera - Is It
Just A Laxative?) article on the Aloe Vera plant which for many
years was erroneously regarded as no more than a powerful
laxative. Aloe Vera in actual fact is one of Nature's most
potent medicinal herbs. In tandem with it's ability as an
effective and natural weight loss agent, it is also a strong and
healthy detoxifying agent.
Aloe Vera as a Detoxifying Agent:
Aloe Vera also has strong antibacterial and antifungal
properties against a broad range of microbes. Carrisyn, an
extract of Aloe Vera, has shown recent evidence of being able to
inhibit a number of viruses 'in-vitro', including the strains
responsible for herpes simples, measles, and HIV. Carrisyn
appears to work by stimulating the immune system to trigger the
production of blood cells that fight infection, thereby boosting
the immune function. Amino acids methionine, serine, threonine
and molybdenum are useful. They detoxify heavy metals, help in
proper metabolism of carbohydrates, fat and protein thus
preventing buildup of fat in the liver and arteries.
These laxative and detoxifying properties of Aloe Vera help the
colon to work most efficiently. Highly processed and refined
foods that are common in today's diets lack fiber and pass
through the system slowly, allowing toxins in the waste to be
reabsorbed into the body. However, on Aloe Vera therapy food
passes through the system more quickly and easily. Less obvious
problems due to an inefficient colon like lack of energy,
respiratory issues, bad breath, non-cystic acne and dry skin are
also avoided. Aloe Vera helps expel excess water in the cells.
Thus it is helpful in many kidney problems such as kidney
stones, painful urination. It works wonders in people with
failed kidneys. One of the main reasons for hair loss is toxin
in the small intestine. Thus toxins removed by Aloe Vera helps
remedy this problem.
Aloe Vera in Diabetes:
Many Studies have shown that regular consumption of Aloe Vera
leads to lowering blood glucose level with no toxic effects on
kidney or liver function as assessed by blood chemistry. Aloe
Vera helps toning up of the Pancreas, thus regularizing insulin
flow.
Aloe Vera helps accelerate the healing of Diabetic wounds. It
dramatically lessens inflammation and improves pain response.
Aloe Vera in Digestive Problems:
Aloe Vera helps in treating indigestion, irritable bowl
syndrome, ulcerative colitis, esophagitis, peptic ulcer, chronic
colon problems including constipation, hemorrhoids, colitis and
Crohn's disease. It helps in the removal of excess acid and
cough.
Aloe Vera in Allergies:
Aloe Vera is a rich source of vitamins E and C. These help in
boosting the immune system tremendously. Thus it's an ideal
solution to many common allergies such as colds, asthma. Serine
maintain a healthy immune system. Aspartic acid helps increase
stamina.
Aloe Vera in Aging:
Aloe Vera is one of the most potent sources of antioxidants,
vitamins E and C and Vitamin B-12 (only known natural source).
Recent studies are demonstrating the remarkable benefits of
antioxidants. Oxidation in cells can damage DNA, leading
sometimes to cancer, other diseases and to the changes
associated with aging. The antioxidant compounds counter the
aging effects wrought by the free radicals.
Other Properties of the Aloe Vera Principle:
Other active ingredients of the Aloe Vera plant include
Salicylates, which control inflammation and pain, and an enzyme
that inhibits Bradykinin, the chemical messenger responsible for
transmitting pain signals through the nerves. Aloe Vera also
contains Magnesium Lactate, a chemical known to inhibit the
release of histamines responsible for skin irritation and
itching.
Aloe Vera is thus rightly called "The Miracle Herb" due to its
many medicinal and useful properties.
When choosing an Aloe Vera product for topical application, look
for a product high in Aloe Vera content, which should appear as
the first item listed on the ingredients panel.
To summarize, Aloe Vera:
1. Helps to promote digestion because it contains enzymes that
assist in digestion
2. Helps to cleanse the digestive
tract
3. Improves circulation
4. Reduces allergies
5. Helps with metabolic disorders
6. Acts as a general
tonic, giving energy and nutrients while on a program
7.
Helps to stabilise blood sugar
8. Has no known side
effects
Thus, scientific evidence proves that Aloe Vera is your herb of
choice for a clean and healthy lifestyle and is definitely much
more than just a laxative! It also has the potential to undo the
adverse effects of all the pollutants that we expose ourselves
to, including saturated fat and toxic byproducts of
industralisation and automobile emissions.
